DNSYS and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS today announced that the DNSYS Z1 Exoskeleton Pro – DEATH STRANDING 2: ON THE BEACH Limited Edition is now available for sale. Sales began today at 8:00 a.m. EST on December 2, with the first batch limited to 100 units worldwide at a price of $1,998 (USD). The first batch of orders is scheduled to ship starting in early January 2026.
The response to this collaboration has been truly encouraging and has exceeded our initial expectations. To ensure we fulfill as many customer requests as possible, DNSYS and KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS are already working on plans for a second production run. Details will be announced February.
“Exoskeletons are an essential part of DEATH STRANDING,” said Sage Dong, CEO of DNSYS. “They enhance protagonist Sam’s mobility and efficiency and allow characters to traverse challenging terrains and carry heavy cargo while reconnecting a fractured world. Behind this collaboration, we wanted to bring the same feeling and design philosophy of the game into reality, creating an exoskeleton that is not only functional but also resonates with fans of the series.”
Built on the DNSYS Z1 platform and co‑designed by KOJIMA PRODUCTIONS’ Art Director, Yoji Shinkawa, and the DNSYS team, the limited edition exoskeleton brings one of DEATH STRANDING’s most recognizable pieces of equipment into the physical world, while preserving the comfort, performance, and safety required for real‑life use.
Yoji Shinkawa explained that he approached the collaboration with the same mindset as designing in‑game props:
“We approached the sketching process with the same level of care as when designing props for the game—treating this exoskeleton as a product that exists on the same continuum as the fictional world of DEATH STRANDING.”
After actually trying on and using the collaboration skeleton in real life, Shinkawa described the experience as strangely familiar:
“It felt surreal—almost as if events from the game were happening in real life.
Unlike the in-game version, the base model here is a real, functional device, so we couldn't drastically alter the main structure or overall form. But through detailed adjustments, we were able to create a futuristic gadget that feels like something Sam Porter Bridges would actually use.”
He also reflected on what it means for something that originated in a fictional setting to be realized as a real‑world product:
“The in-game items are created — in terms of design, motion, and sound — as if they were real objects. Even though the world is fictional, when players use them in the game, it has to feel like a real experience.
After actually using the skeleton in the real world, I felt that what we had expressed in the game was not mistaken; what we had imagined actually came to pass, and the game and reality became linked.”
The experience of using the exoskeleton in real life reinforced the sense that the boundary between the fictional world of DEATH STRANDING and reality has grown closer than ever.
