FAQ
The DNSYS Z1 X DEATH STRANDING 2 Exoskeleton uses a three-point support structure, where the motor transfers force to two padded components—one on the back of the thigh and one on the back of the calf. This design helps distribute the load that would otherwise fall entirely on the knee joint, providing highly targeted knee support. It also delivers full-leg assistance, which is particularly helpful for daily movements such as climbing or descending stairs, going uphill or downhill, and standing up from a chair. This effect becomes especially noticeable when going up or down stairs or slopes, and the steeper the incline, the stronger the assistance:
- When going uphill, you can feel up to 44 lbs of upward lifting force, greatly reducing the load on your thighs and knees.
- When going downhill, it feels as though “an invisible small stool is gently supporting you from behind,” making descending stairs or slopes much easier while significantly reducing impact on the knees.
In many activities—such as long-distance hiking, skiing, downhill walking, or cycling—the knees can be subjected to forces as high as 3–7 times your body weight. The Dnsys Z1 Pro exoskeleton can help reduce up to the equivalent of 2× body-weight pressure, lowering the risk of knee damage caused by prolonged hiking, skiing, cycling, and other repetitive movements.Additionally, the Z1 uses an AI gait algorithm that can learn and adapt to your walking pattern and to any terrain. The assistance feels natural, smooth, and unrestricted.
The first batch will be shipped on January 2, 2026.

We’d like to clarify that both the Z1 and X1 can be worn together. When we originally designed these products, we took into account their compatibility, and the algorithms are designed to support the use of both products simultaneously.
Additionally, we've simplified the belt design so that both the Z1 and X1 can share a single belt, making the wear process easier. While our exoskeletons are among the lightest in the world — the X1 weighs only 1.6kg and the Z1 (per leg) weighs 680g — wearing both together doesn’t provide quite the same experience as wearing just one of the products. From a comfort and usability perspective, wearing both products together may not offer the same level of wearability as wearing just one.
For the best experience, we recommend wearing them separately depending on the scenario and your needs. The X1, being a hip exoskeleton, is highly effective for increasing speed and endurance. On the other hand, the Z1, which is a knee exoskeleton, works wonders for activities such as climbing stairs, going downhill (it feels like sitting on a small bench while descending), and reducing pressure on the knees when standing up from a seated position.
To demonstrate how both the Z1 and X1 can be used together, here’s a video that shows the combination of both devices in action:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grEaa0HcbAM
